Nail problems can occur from the first days of life. In infants, the delicate nail plate and the soft tissues around it are particularly prone to deformation and ingrowth. This was the case for a 9-month-old patient of AArkada Podiatry Institute, who had an abnormal nail shape from birth.
Symptoms and diagnosis of nail deformity
The abnormal structure of the nail plate led to its ingrowth into the soft tissues and the development of inflammation. Prompt intervention was necessary to avoid aggravating the problem and causing the child pain.
Course of the podiatry visit
During the therapy, we performed several precise measures adapted to the patient's age:
- Cleansing the plate with podiatric cutters - gently removing dirt and calluses,
- Development of soft tissues using Arkada's Cuticle Clippers,
- a set of home recommendations for parents, including:
- Preparing the skin with Arkada's Skin Cleaner,

- Regular application of Arkada's Kids Emulsion.
